Automatic Trading Add-Ons for Tradestation

About Autotrading Systems

Trading is not something most people will succeed at, however if you are able to do it well the world is your oyster. You can trade almost any market from anywhere in the world, regardless of if the markets going up, down or what the economy is doing, and with automation you don’t even need to be in front of your computer to place a trade.

As a trader I started out back in the nineties and as many have, been fascinated by the markets and the potential out there. Initially I was trading stocks on daily charts purely discretionally .I then went on to get professional training to learn more about ways to trade some of the markets out there such as options, futures and forex. Those who I received my training from where skilled traders and I gained a lot of valuable teaching, although I always felt too much was left to your own discretion .Even though they may have had reasonable methods, knowing exactly your entry point in advance and just where you get out was another matter and I moved from discretional trading eventually to purely system trading over time as I learned more about how to use those principles and methods but with precise rules and was able to turn these and other ideas into computer based models.

Developing Tradestation Add-Ons

Trading, researching developing my own systems as well as working with some existing commercially sold systems helped me to learn a lot more about how and why these were developed as well as find some of the pitfalls. One of the things to keep in mind is many systems have been made to “look good “, as many of these have been developed solely for the purpose of sale and not with the view of putting the developers own funds into trading this system.

The systems shown have been developed for my own trading and are the result of thousands of hours of research and development over several years. I like of a reasonable amount of diversity to spread risks to smooth out the overall profit and loss results and have systems that trade a number of markets using several quite different methodologies, time frames, profit / loss expectations etc., however I do tend to gravitate towards swing and a few day trade systems rather than long terms ones.

Electronically traded futures & Forex

I have chosen to focus on the electronically traded futures market and forex markets for several reasons. With these instruments you can trade long or short the same there is no down tick rule like in stocks and these provide more opportunity to leverage you trade size. We are in a Global market place and these markets often trade more than just a few hours like local stocks or futures pit markets do and take into account what is happening around the World .Oil , Currency and Gold are examples that are traded virtually around the clock and they don’t wait for you to move. As a trader I am able to trade these from where and when it suits me, when the markets are moving or news is happening and even fully automated 24 hours a day if I choose to.

The markets are large and I realize there is plenty of potential for some of this work to be used by more than just myself. We are registered with Tradestation as an Add-On Independent Developer and now have some of what I have developed available for others to trade.

Regardless of if you are from a large trading fund or an individual trader just trying to get started you may be able add something to what you are already doing in the markets. I am not going to tell you that you will make massive profits from a small starting capitol and with minimal or no risk but I will say it would have been very helpful to me to have had software, systems like this and with automation capabilities when I first started trading.

I hope you find this site of some help and if you do already or decide to trade I wish you well with your trading endeavors.
